UA3, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-for-profit, charitable organization with a committed team, the skills and the experience to maximize our efforts and limit our overhead expenses. We use over 90% of our monetary resources to directly assist NYC and our residents.
For the past seven years, UA3 has been making great strides in supporting disadvantaged students, adults, and nonprofits through digital technology, mental health advocacy services and providing funding to community organizations. At the height of the pandemic, UA3 joined many of our community partners and elected officials, and with the support of our generous sponsors, donors, supporters and volunteers, in combating food insecurities serving many vulnerable members of our communities throughout New York City.
Since opening up the first food pantry in Chinatown in April 2020 and recognizing food insecurity would be a long-term problem faced by many, in partnership with Councilmember Chin, UA3 opened The Community First Food Pantry at its current permanent location in the Lower East Side at 384 Grand Street on June 11, 2020. At this location, we were distributing over 1,700 bags/boxes of food from the Federal Coronavirus Food Assistance Program as well as Trader Joe's donations every week. A food package generally consisted of fresh vegetables, fruits, meats, eggs, milk, and cheese. These 25 to 30- pound parcels are sufficient to feed a family of four for one week.
Since then, The Community First Food Pantry had quickly expanded its scope of service and has been delivering food packages to NYCHA residences, senior homes, and tenements in Manhattan, to local food pantries in Harlem and Brooklyn, and made available, food packages to shelters for domestic violence survivors as well as other non-profit organizations. The Community First Food Pantry also conducts direct-to-community food and PPE distribution events, not only in Lower East Side Manhattan but also in many parts of Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan, and the Bronx where thousands of community members are being served to date.
UA3 continues to expand our food and PPE distribution services to many vulnerable community residents throughout NYC. Currently, we serve 1,600-2,000 families weekly at our pantry and 7,000 families in collaboration with our CBO-100 organizations across New York City.
