Welcome to Base UWS! Below are a few FAQs about our community:
We aim to create joyful, pluralistic, and diverse community for Jews in their 20s and 30s in New York City, all while inspiring folks to connect with Judaism in ways meaningful for them. Base UWS prioritizes cultivating a relationship with Torah, commitment to justice and equity, practice of compassion, learning, and growth, and the ability for each person to show up as their authentic selves. Please contact Rabbi Danny with any questions at [email protected].
Can I bring my full self?
Please do! We celebrate the diversity within our community. Base UWS is a community full of multiple gender identities, sexual orientations, races, ethnicities, abilities, and ideas. We're excited to welcome you!
What is the food situation?
Our home is kosher and pescetarian. Please let us know if you have any specific dietary or allergy needs.
What's the physical accessibility like at your space?
There are eight steps leading up to our home. We currently do not have a ramp for these steps but are working on acquiring one. There is an elevator that travels in between the first, second, and third floors. The elevator does not go up to the fourth floor, which has 22 stairs. Most programming will be on the second floor and rarely on the fourth floor, such as Sukkot events. Please reach out to Rabbi Danny if you have specific questions and/or accommodation needs.
Are non-Jews welcome?
Of course! Whereas Base UWS is a Jewish community, we welcome everybody, no matter their religion or background.
What is your Covid policy?
Because we have an infant, we kindly ask that you do not come to events if you are feeling ill. We currently do not require Covid testing or face masks; we have face masks available for those who want one.
Are events free?
99% of Base UWS events are free of charge! Certain holiday meals have a small registration fee, which helps ensure our yearly community program budget. If finances are ever a concern, please contact Rabbi Danny ([email protected]) for a waiver.
